Getting Career Advice from the Experts

Research shows that having digital skills has become an imperative for American workers. Without basic digital literacy skills like developing spreadsheets and basic word processing, some job seekers are immediately shut out of opportunities to secure higher-paying, available jobs.
Enter HEART Empowers.
The mission of Capital One’s HEART (HR Employment Readiness Training) Empowers initiative is to enable successful workforce transition for adults ages 15 – 35 by providing essential digital literacy skills needed for jobs of tomorrow today.
HR leaders and associates use their skills in the community to help high school graduates and adults – who are underemployed and/or do not have a path – to earn a living wage. In partnership with local nonprofit organizations, volunteer activities include mock interviews, resume reviews, career panel discussions and professional headshots for participants.
"I can't believe you guys are doing all of this for us," commented one of our HEART Empowers recipients who was getting a complimentary headshot to upload to her social media page.
Since launching in 2016, 366 HR associates have volunteered 1,940 hours helping more than 25 organizations across the country.
